MICHIGAN STATE TALENT CONTEST RULES

State Youth Talent Contestant Form

A Statewide youth talent contest will be conducted beginning at the local Aerie/Auxiliary level, with the winner(s) being eligible to compete at the State Convention in Midland on Friday June 15, 2018.

Each Aerie/Auxiliary may select up to three youth to represent their Aerie/Auxiliary at the State level.  This being from the following categories; one male, one female and one group with the overall State winner being selected from all three category winners.

  1. 1.  All contestants must register for the local Aerie/Auxiliary contest no later than_____(date to be set by local Aerie/Auxiliary).  All Secretaries must certify their contest winners to the Youth Committee no later than May 1 2018.
  2. 2.  A registration form must be filled out by the youth contestant and their parent or guardian. A parent or guardian’s signature is required on each form.
  3. 3.  The contestant must be at least 6 years of age at the time of the local Aerie/Auxiliary contest. Contestants must have an affiliation with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, as in parent, sibling, grandparent, guardian, etc…
  4. 4.  The Aerie/Auxiliary President shall appoint a Committee to expedite their local contest and shall select at least three, not to exceed five individuals from their Aerie/Auxiliary to serve as Judges of the local contest. The decision of these Judges shall be final.
  5. 5.  Each Aerie/Auxiliary shall select an alternate who shall serve in the place of the winner in the event the winner is unable to continue at the State level.
  6. 6.  Dress for the Local and State contest shall be up to the contestant. Remember, you are representing your Aerie/Auxiliary and dress should be appropriate.
  7. 7.  The expenses of the Youth winners shall be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
  8. 8.  The local Aerie/Auxiliary shall determine any gifts, awards, etc…
  9. 9.  Judging of the contestants in every level of the contest shall be based upon personality and talent.
  10. 10.  There will be NO TIES. If the Judges provide a tie vote for the winner of a contest, they will reconvene.
  11. 11.  The Judges at the State level will be selected from Aerie and Auxiliary members.
  12. 12.  All contestants for the State level MUST meet with the State Youth Chairman at 3:00 pm on the day of the State Competition at the Great Hall.
  13. 13.  Each contestant at the State competition must furnish any and all equipment needed for his/her/their talent competition. The includes music on tapes, cds, props,etc. and someone to help operate the equipment.  A house PA system will be provided.
  14. 14.  Overall winners will receive a plaque plus their $80.00 camp fee paid. If a group wins the competition, the camp fee prize will be split between all individuals in the group. The balance of the camp fee’s to be paid by each individual.
